I'm currently putting the export button back in. It's changed in that
it now exports SBML (SignBank markup language). The new version of
SignBank coming out in March can import SBML. I'll explain more below.

I'm not sure how the import will work. It may be automated, but that's
not really needed just yet. Anyone with access to the file system can
import and export directly. PocketPuddle users can do this
themselves. And I'll be available to help anyone with a private puddle
through Val's SignBank.org website.

By tomorrow, 2 additional features will be available on the SignPuddle
1.5 demo. The first is image/video upload for individuals signs. <br>
The second is the inclusion of the SignSpelling Sequence column. This

The SBML import into SignBank will be really amazing. You can do all
of the initial data entry with SignPuddle and you can do all of the
presentation with SignBank. SBML contains information for a sign's
appearance and it's sorting. I've attached the sbml.dtd.

Did you drop out the gloss and the name or are they called something
else in SBML?<br>
What do the id, build, sequence and detail represent? Is the Id what
the sign is called? Or a unique number for each sign? <br>

I was looking are the zip file from the ASL SignPuddle. It seems to me
that some pictures have the same name as others. They are differing on
caps like "messiah" and "Messiah". When I extract them they overwrite
each other. In the past, when I want to keep something unique in my
databases that synchronize, I have used GUID. It's a unique number
with a very low probability of any other record in any table in any
database in the world to ever have the same number. Another issue I
was thinking about if you id the signs by name, then if it was
misspelled, it can't be corrected because when export/importing, it's a
new sign. So if another system has already imported it with the wrong
spelling it would have two different signs with each spelling. But
maybe it's ok and it doesn't matter to anybody.<br>

I hadn't tried the email. I'm never online long enough to try all the
good features you've made. smile... I guess that's what Cherie must
be using. Maybe instead of each sign being on it's own line in the
email, it could be a SBML with a sbml-load style sheet to load the
signs into SignText in case someone want's to suggest writing it a
little bit different. They would have to save both files to the
computer then open the xml in the web browser for it to load in
SignText. I think it might be easier than copying the listing in
notepad and removing the line and space between each sign. What do you
think?<br>

Another suggestion about the emailing, the attached png files. I am
using Portable Thunderbird and I know that some attached pictures show
up after the text and others, like the ones that come with Cherie's
emails don't show after the email. I have to double click each one to
see it or save them all to a folder to see them. It would
be nicer if the pictures showed after the text email.<br>

I looked at some of the messages sources. In the header where it says <br>
<pre id="line1">Content-Type: multipart/related;
if changed to
Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
the email will show the images at the end.

For importing, SignPuddle 1.5 is compatible with SignPuddle 1.0, so any
existing SignPuddle dictionary can be used. although I do need to
update the SignPuddle 1.0 export routine. I've done this by hand for
the ASL dictionary, so tomorrow we'll see over 6000 signs in SignPuddle
1.5.

Forth, the Translation feature creates a SignText document that can be
saved to any puddle. However, it no longer does the automatic finger
spelling.
