Hello Kimberly et al,

This is Charles, documenting a little of my experience, and looking for feedback.

You sort of have to know how to save signs singularly. I had the same glitch.

Take a look at my sentences under the ASL Encyclopedia, particularly, DeafHistory3 or DeafHistory4. Those were more sign focused, the earlier two are a lot of fingerspelling.

As you use a lot of classifiers, you may want to look at what I did with "Teach Deaf Children" in DeafHistory4. The left hand from teach was kept as a classifier while the right continued to sign Deaf and Children.

1) First create one sign, make sure it's one sign, not a combination.

2) Then save it by saving it to the left, middle, or right lane, that will start the SignText by saving the first sign.

3) Continue on to later signs, I really found myself thinking much more accurately after the first several
files.

Charles

Kimberley Shaw <skifoot@gmail.com> wrote:
Hello Valerie and all:
I will go and give SignText another try; sooner rather than later, I hope!
I think I gave it a go when it was just-announced, but for some reason
didn't succeed in getting from here to there. If I'm lucky, maybe the
computer was just having a wonky day then.
Stay tuned,
Kim

On Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 2:56 PM, Valerie Sutton <signwriting@mac.com> wrote:
> SignWriting List
> July 28, 2008
> Hello Kim, Charles and everyone -
> Great to hear from you, Kim...sounds like you are having a wonderful time!
> And I enjoyed looking at your handwritten pdf document...thanks for sending
> it to us...
> As you know, I was the one who designed the keyboards in SignWriter DOS, and
> of
