Yes they should be and are different. <br>

But see how a handshape relate to the signtyp hand posture. Why?
Because they are both describing the same reality from two different
points of view.<br>

My hand search work just the oposite of Signwriting to Signtype.<br>

You can choose which fingers are extended, root shape, etc to find just
the handshape you need for a sign. I was thinking of extending the
search criteria to me be inclusive of hand feature as is the signtyp
hand posture.<br>

and SignWriting frequently (thank you, Joe, for your excellent
comparison). This is number 4 on the linguistics web page...There is
also a web version, which you do not have to download...The comparison
between the Stokoe system and SignWriting was needed back in the year
2000, because at that time people really did not know the difference
between the systems...so Joe's article helped with that transition... <br>
