 BRASILEIRO)</font></span></span></div><div><span style="background-color: transparent; "><br></span></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">This month we worked hard. We started the course of SignWriting in 'Libras Escrita' (our company). We have two classes: one for the deaf, one for hearing. Students are learning very fast and are very happy to know the use of SignWriting around the world.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">Sorry for not having answered the numerous posts in SW List. In October we will respond to each one.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">We are delighted by the opening SignWriting, Valerie, DAC staff and other researchers to discuss the SignWriting and adaptation for use in each country / sign languages. These initiatives so make the SignWriting is recognized and used by deaf communities around the world. There is much work to do, we need to

 train more people to work with us. The goal of 'Libras Escrita' is SignWriting spread throughout Brazil, leading the deaf and hearing its many benefits.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">Today and tomorrow (September, 27 and 28) we are doing the launch of our book in the "First National Seminar on Education of the Deaf" in Uberaba, state of Minas Gerais (website: <a href="http://escoladulce.org.br/seminario/index.html">http://escoladulce.org.br/seminario/index.html</a>). Also lecture oral communication on "The Writing of sign language in deaf education," demonstrating that the SignWriting has much to assist in bilingual education for deaf because it allows the deaf to write their first language (Sign Language) and then learn to write Second Language (written Portuguese, in Brazil).</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">In Uberaba City has an excellent bilingual school for the deaf. It is

 a fantastic school! They are very interested in learning SignWriting and deploy its use also in school for both children and for deaf adolescents. Raquel and I were very happy to hear that.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">The work has grown.</font></div><div><font size="2">In early September, Raquel and I attended the "VI National Meeting of Students of Arts, Literature, Linguistic of Libras" (<a href="http://www.6enell.com.br/">http://www.6enell.com.br/</a>) uttering two lectures:</font></div><div><font size="2">Madson: "The translator interpreter SignWriting X: opportunities or challenges?"</font></div><div><font size="2">Raquel: "The Model Sutton (SignWriting) Writing as a mode of Sign Language"</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">In this seminar we launched our book too, everyone loved. They are amazed at the many uses of the Deaf SignWriting of any age, listeners learners of sign

 language, translators, interpreters, parents of deaf people, teachers and society in general.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">Last week we were at the XI International Conference/ XVII Seminar National of INES (National Institute for Deaf Education) See: <a href="http://congresso.ines.gov.br/ines_congresso/home/?v=inicio">http://congresso.ines.gov.br/ines_congresso/home/?v=inicio</a>.</font></div><div><font size="2">Where we also made the disclosure in our book. Many people still do not know the SignWriting; others already knew, and wanted to learn but did not have a specific material for SignWriting in Libras; others began to learn through other teaching methodologies and disliked the SignWriting.</font></div><div><font size="2">Everyone we explained how did the SignWriting, Brazilian and international research, how the SignWriting, iconicity and its ease of learning, then we presented the methodology applied in our

line-height:150%">Escrita de Sinais</span></i> na ‘Libras Escrita’ (nossa

empresa). Temos duas turmas: uma para surdos, outra para ouvintes. Os alunos

estăo aprendendo muito rápido e estăo muito felizes em saber do uso da Escrita

de Sinais ao redor do mundo.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Estamos muito felizes pela abertura que a Escrita de Sinais,

Valerie, equipe do DAC e demais pesquisadores para a discussăo da Escrita de

Sinais e adaptaçăo para o uso em cada país/ língua de sinais. Săo iniciativas

assim que fazem com que a Escrita de Sinais seja reconhecido e usado pelas

comunidades surdos ao redor do mundo. Há muito trabalho a fazer, precisamos de

capacitar mais pessoas para trabalhar conosco. O objetivo da ‘Libras Escrita’ é

difundir a Escrita de Sinais em todo o Brasil, levando a surdos e ouvintes seus

inúmeros benefícios.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Hoje e amanhă (27 e 28 de setembro) estamos fazendo o

lançamento de nosso livro no “I Seminário Nacional de Educaçăo de Surdos” na

cidade de Uberaba, estado de Minas Gerais (website: <a href="http://escoladulce.org.br/seminario/index.html">http://escoladulce.org.br/seminario/index.html</a>).

Apresentarei também uma comunicaçăo oral sobre “A Escrita da Língua de Sinais na

educaçăo de surdos”, demonstrando que a Escrita de Sinais tem muito a ajudar na

educaçăo bilíngue para surdos pois possibilita que os surdos escrevam sua

primeira língua (Língua de Sinais) para depois aprender a escrita da Segunda

Língua (portuguęs escrito, no caso brasileiro).<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Na cidade de Uberaba/ MG tem uma excelente escola bilíngue

para surdos. É uma escola fantástica! Estăo muito interessados em aprender a

Escrita de Sinais e implantar seu uso na escola também tanto para crianças

quanto para adolescentes surdos. Raquel e eu ficamos muito felizes em saber

disso.<o:p></o:p></div>

todos gostaram muito. Estăo maravilhados com as inúmeras possibilidades de uso

da Escrita de Sinais para surdos de qualquer idade, ouvintes aprendizes de

Língua de Sinais, tradutores intérpretes, familiares de surdos, professores e

sociedade em geral<o:p></o:p></div>

conheciam a Escrita de Sinais; outras já conheciam, e queriam aprender, mas năo

tinham um material específico; outras pessoas começaram aprender através de

outras metodologias de ensino e năo gostaram da Escrita de Sinais. A todos

explicávamos como surgiu a Escrita de Sinais, as pesquisas brasileiras e

internacionais, como funciona a Escrita de Sinais, sua iconidade e facilidade

de aprendizado, entăo apresentávamos a metodologia aplicada em nosso livro de

ensino da Escrita de Sinais passo-a-passo e com muitos exemplos em Libras, além

de histórias compostas diretamente em <i><span style="mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%">Escrita de Sinais, </span></i>além

de demonstrar inúmeras aplicabilidades e falar também do SignPuddle. Todos

ficaram maravilhados com tudo o que a Escrita de Sinais nos oferece.<o:p></o:p></div>
