Among the different forms of representation of these languages, in</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">addition to traditional videos, there is the SignWriting notation system. This is a representation</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">mode that allows written/graphical registry of the movements used for communication. However</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">SignWriting is still not broadly used in computerized media, especially information systems</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">associated with scientific publication. So we present a proposal to translate the user interface of</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">the Open Journal Systems (OJS), a system for scholarly publications, to written sign language.</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">The translation process will be based on Brazilian Sign Language and will use SignPuddle</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">resources for creating, recording and sharing terms associated with the user interface elements</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">that will be translated. From the corpus filed into SignPuddle it will be possible to incorporate</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">SignWriting computational codes into the translation resources offered by OJS. After the</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">translation it is expected to analyse issues like the adjustment of the dimensions and positioning</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">of terms represented by written signs. It is expected that the translation process will enrich and</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">formalize signs and vocabulary associated with the context of scholarly publishing systems. We</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">hope this method will can be replicated in other sign languages and in other systems that</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">provide translation resources.</div></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class=""><br class=""></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">———</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class=""><br class=""></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">Thank you Ronnie, Milton, Sandra and Messias - and welcome!</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class=""><br class=""></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">Val ;-)</div></body></html>________________________________________________
