</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal>Hello everyone!<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I am looking at handshape orientation and I am having a problem with how to write signs like SUITCASE and other tool related signs.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>In this version of SUITCASE, the signer had the hand down by his side and was gripping an imaginary handle. So the palm faces left, the thumb is pointing to the viewer (or pointing out) and if you extended the fingers from the fist shape, the fingers would point down.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The problem seems to be related to the symbols that are black and white (because you see the side of the hand). When you try rotating the hand around the front wall circle, the hand seems to want to turn over when it is facing down. When your fingers are pointing up, the thumb naturally faces the signer. But when the hand has rotated half way through the circle and the fingers are pointing down, with the thumb pointing to the signer, the posture is very awkward and has to be very uncommon.
