color: rgb(27, 27, 27); font-family: -apple-system-font; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">The centre will help give impetus to technology projects that aim to solve the problems faced by the differently abled, whose needs often remain unrecognised, says Vishal Goyal, professor and coordinator for the research centre. </span><br style="max-width: 100%; color: rgb(27, 27, 27); font-family: -apple-system-font; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">Goyal, who first became interested in developing such technologies after visiting a school for the differently abled in Saifdipur near the university, has already been working on Indian Sign Language (ISL) machine translation projects for hearing impaired at the university. </span><br style="max-width: 100%; color: rgb(27, 27, 27); font-family: -apple-system-font; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">He along with Lalit Goyal, associate professor, DAV College, Jalandhar, have developed machine translation system to translate simple English text to ISL synthetic animations and will now work on translating complex and compound sentences, as well as multiword expressions. </span><br style="max-width: 100%;
