Today I published a new version of the @sutton-signwriting/core

The group in Germany behind the sign2mint project requested an
improvement to sign searching.<br class="">
Previously, searching with query strings only works with AND
searching.<br class="">
They wanted the ability to search with OR, such as symbol A OR B.<br class="">
As I was explaining why this wouldn't work, I realized I was wrong.<br class="">

I found the idea fascinating and I couldn't stop myself.<br class="">
Once I figured out how I could do it, I had to give it a try.<br class="">
I expanded the query string for FSW and SWU to include OR searching.<br class="">
The query strings now accept the letter 'o' to indicate OR.<br class="">
<br class="">
I was able to spend a couple of hours this week getting ready.<br class="">
Today, I was able to finish the code during my weekend office hours.<br class="">
It took about 9 hours today, but the code is finished, tested and
published.<br class="">
<br class="">
Symbols in FSW use the symbol key, such as S10000.<br class="">
Symbols in SWU use symbol characters, such as <font face="SuttonSignWritingOneD" class=""></font> which will display the
actual symbol if you have the Sutton SignWriting One-D font
installed.<br class="">
<br class="">
For the sake of simplicity, I'll be referencing symbols by the
letters A, B, C, and D.<br class="">
<br class="">
QABCD - signs that include symbols A and B and C and D.<br class="">
QAoBoCoD - signs that include symbols A or B or C or D.<br class="">
QAoBCoD - signs that include symbols (A or B) and (C or D)<br class="">
QABoCD - signs that include symbols A and (B or C) and D<br class="">
<br class="">
The OR searching works for the temporal prefix and the spatial
signbox.<br class="">
You can use symbol or range definitions.<br class="">
<br class="">
I still need to update the specification in
draft-slevinski-formal-signwriting and create an episode of the
SignWriting Stream to explain to new development.<br class="">
