Hi Uta,<br>
<br>
Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see searching in SignWriting.<br>
<br>
About the dominant vs recessive hand, this is not something that you
can determine by symbol alone.<br>
A few thoughts...<br>
<br>
A sign in SignWriting is spelled using a two-part word of time and
space: the temporal prefix and the spatial signbox.<br>
*
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-slevinski-formal-signwriting-08.html#name-two-part-word">https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-slevinski-formal-signwriting-08.html#name-two-part-word</a><br>
<br>
Here are two signs that will have the same visual appearance because
they have the same spatial signbox information.<br>
However, the first sign has a temporal prefix while the second does
not.<br>
The major advantage of the temporal prefix is that it makes sorting
possible.<br>
<br>

moz-do-not-send="false"><br>
<div><br>
If you use Valerie's rules for creating the temporal prefix, it
will start with the dominant hand and then have the recessive
hand.<br>
</div>
<br>
For searching, you can search the temporal prefix or the spatial
signbox.<br>
*
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-slevinski-formal-signwriting-08.html#name-query-language">https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-slevinski-formal-signwriting-08.html#name-query-language</a><br>
<br>
Consider these query strings.<br>
<img src="cid:part2.fbBTjaX0.N601nPJ4@signpuddle.net"
moz-do-not-send="false"><br>
<br>
Query strings 1 and 2 search the spatial signbox.<br>
The "fr" is used to specify any fill and any rotation respectively.<br>
<br>
Query string 3 and 4 search the temporal prefix.<br>
Searching the temporal prefix is indicated by starting with "A" and
end with "T"<br>
The "R" indicates a range and is followed by two symbols.<br>
<br>
So, if you use the temporal prefix, you can use a query string like
3 to find the signs that specify the dominant hand.<br>
<br>
You can use a query string like 4 to find the signs with any
dominant hand, but a specific recessive hand.<br>
<br>
This would only work with starting handshapes.<br>
<br>

<div>I would like to explain to you how sign search works in

</div>
<div>If you know a sign but you don't know its translation or
you don't know the meaning of the sign and you want a
translation for it.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div> There are 4 groups:</div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>handshape</li>
<li>2-hand</li>
<li>contact</li>
<li>movement</li>
</ol>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>handshape:</div>
<div>There are 30 main handshapes (phonem, i dont know,
whether the word "phonem" is used). We have phonems and
allophons and fingerspellings. Allophones are handshapes
that are similar to phonemes or written differently,
allophones are minimal deviations from phonemes.</div>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>There is a table with phonem, allophon and fingerspellings.</div>
<div><a
href="https://sign2mint.de/page/gebaerdensuchinformation"
moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext">https://sign2mint.de/page/gebaerdensuchinformation</a><br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>If, you choose a phonem, so it looks for this phonem and
its allophons and fingerspellings. Independent of hand
position. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>2-hand:</div>
<div>there are 5 ways in which the left hand moves compared to
the right hand. <br>
- parallel<br>
- symmetrical<br>
- alternating<br>
- resting<br>
- performing together<br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I would very much like to add that it is only a hand
gesture, but there is no symbol for it, so this selection is
not available.<br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>contact:</div>
<div>There are 4 how-contact:</div>
<div>- simple contact</div>
<div>- wipe (loose) contact</div>
- rub (continuous) contact
<div>- grap contact</div>
<div>There are 4 where-contact:</div>
<div>- head</div>
<div>- neck</div>
<div>- breast</div>
<div>- arm</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I would very much like to add hand contact, but we have no
idea, which symbol. We use arm, breast or neck only, if there
is contact. And head with contact symbol like ")" in the head.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>movement:</div>
<div>There are 9 movements.</div>
<div>- straight</div>
<div>- wave</div>
<div>- angular</div>
<div>- circle</div>
<div>- spirale</div>
<div>- arm rotation</div>
<div>- hand movement</div>
<div>- finger movement<br>
<div><br>
</div>
</div>
<div>The more symbols you select, the more accurate the result
will be.<br>
There is no finer selection. We will see if we need it. <br>
I would like to distinguish in dominant and recessive hand,
that is not possible with signwriting. Or is it? <br>
