The cartoons were drawn by the famous sign language artist Frank Allen Paul, and the ASL SignWriting in the cartoons was written by Deaf journalist Dennis Schemenauer. The two worked together on this project and pioneered the concept of SignWriting in cartoons. Later in history, other writers have done wonderful cartoons with SignWriting… Every time I see a cartoon using SignWriting in our present time, I think of Frank and Dennis.

Please see attached…

-------------

On Nov 9, 2021, at 4:15 AM, Honza <honza@RUCE.CZ> wrote:

Hello Val and others!

I teach SignWriting at Czech university for years, recently I started to teach SL interpreters too and I teach them about SW history as well.
Now it is 40 years, SignWriter Newspaper appeared.
