That's how great it is here. Lots of thoughts on how best to script this. Should be easy to read but also to find, this sign.

One thing is for sure, we will adapt the writing. But first we have to think about which one is the best, because the consequence is that we have to adapt all affected signs as well and that is not without with meanwhile 3000 signs. :D

We were/are motivated to transcribe signs with a maximum of 2 hands, so that the pictures do not look so overloaded. And also so that there are not so many results when searching for a certain hand shape. The end handshapes should be derived by movements themselves.
But I notice that sometimes it is more complicated or even too complicated and it is easier to work with end hand shapes.

Nevertheless, I think that we should not neglect the movement, because it's a pity if you can't find certain movements. But that's what we are here for. :D Always nice one after the other. First start with easier ;)

Because of the possible overloading of the pictures, wouldn't it be an idea, if there are beginning and end handshapes, then always the beginning handshape has a slightly lighter color? For better readability.

SignSearch in https://sign2mint.de/search/gebaerdensuche:
Here you can search single symbols or even search several symbols together.

Currently the search is not yet optimal, it is only sorted by the number of symbols. ;) I think we will adopt the sorting from signPuddle. But first we have to recode. In SWU.

Just try it out :D

On Tue, Feb 8, 2022 at 7:11 PM AnnaGrace Greenfield <msannagrace20@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Val,
Thank you for confirming the placement and orientation of the "simultaneous line" on my signwriting.
Interestingly, it seems that to the familiar signer and signwriter, it can be dropped. However, for a new signer and signwriter, it could be a helpful aid.
This is not unlike other written languages where some marks are dropped. For example, in modern Hebrew, they would have vowel markers mostly underneath the letters (called nikud) which is helpful for a learner. However, for a familiar reader, these are not used.

Cheers,

AnnaGrace

On Tue, Feb 8, 2022 at 12:11 PM Valerie Sutton <sutton@signwriting.org> wrote:

SignWriting List
February 8, 2022

Hi AnnaGrace and everyone,

I promise to teach more about Dynamics Symbols in another thread.

Regarding the Simultaneous Line. If you wish to write one, you can, and you placed it in the correct position, AnnaGrace, in the diagram below. But notice I didn't write it. Why?
