Hi Uta!!

There is also QuickSignEditor, which I wrote and is open
source too. https://jonathandduncan.github.io/QuickSignEditor/

It doesn't currently have a good layout for mobile devices
but I hoped that one day I would have time to do it.

The main goal is to find the symbols faster. As for the hand
I sorted them in another fashion.

Each column is how many fingers are pointing away in any
direction.

Each section is how tight the fingers are to the palm of the
hand. They go from a fist all the way to a flat hand.

In each section they are also sorted by how curved the fingers on
the symbols are.

The all button is all of the available handshapes in SignWriting.

The common are the hand symbols common to ASL and LESHO
(Honduras). I had planned to add other symbols to it for LIBRAS
and others but didn't end up doing that yet.

Also when you hover you can see pictures Adam took of those hand
shapes which should be great for beginners.

Also a quick selector to get the orientation you want really
easily.

The arrows too grouped by type.

and are spread across the different planes.

Feel free to steal any of my ideas there.

Regards Jonathan

even faster. signEditor should also be usable on mobile

For this we don't want to develop signEditor from delegs,
because signEditor from signPuddle is more modern and uses SWU
and fortunately is open source.

I think we can start here to collect ideas for the
improvements:

- Reduce symbols to limit the selection and thus enable
faster finding of symbols.
We have agreed on about 60 hand shapes for DGS. The number may
change because we have written very little and sign language
continues to evolve. It can happen that new hand shapes are
created by borrowings, for example.

@Steve I have seen that for DGS not all symbols are used.
There was probably someone who made decisions. Can it be
revised?

- the grouping of hand shapes by numbers in ASL is not
suitable for DGS I think. I have observed that many always had
to search for a long time for a hand shape. That's why we
decided not to have a group and show all 30 phonemes (main
handshapes) right away. We just didn't find a better grouping
that we are satisfied with.

- dragging symbols from the selection to the field is tedious
- other solutions?

Best regards
Uta
