Hi Profo Rubens Almeida,

You can use the literature or the encyclopedia sections for the
Libras Wikipedia on Incubator. Either is fine.

You would copy the Formal SignWriting in ASCII (FSW) from SignPuddle
and paste it into the Wikipedia. At the bottom of the entry in
SignPuddle, click the FSW link in the line that says "SignText data:
FSW or SWU".

Thank you for this question about how to use the
Encyclopedia section in SignPuddle…

One of the reasons there is little explanation on how
to use the encyclopedia section in SignPuddle is because
all of us were learning what was needed. The Wikipedias in
written sign languages was a “grand experiment” and it
lead us in several different directions…

For example, take a look at this beautiful article
written in LIBRAS (see link below). Did you write this,
Rubens? Whoever did write it, it is wonderful and thank
you! But how was it composed? Did the writer use
SignPuddle and then transfer the article into the
Wikipedia site? Or did the author use the Rand Keyboard? I
am curious to know myself… So I believe the encyclopedia
section is a collection of signs people needed for writing
articles, without too much consistency…but nonetheless
articles are written and that is what matters…

Hi Profo Rubens Almeida,

The dictionary is for single sign entries. They may
have a sign text definition.

The encyclopedia is for extended texts. The sign
entry, if there is one, would be the entry title.
In theory, the encyclopedia is a place to prepare
texts for the sign language wikipedias on
the Wikimedia Incubator.
I'm curious to understand what I can create in
SignPuddle Brasil's encyclopedia directory. I
have always used dictionary directories and the
literature library to create and search for
signs and texts written in Libras. So I would
like to know what is the difference between the
dictionary and the encyclopedia. Even on page
13 of the Help Manuals, each directory except
the encyclopedia is explained. I accessed the
encyclopedia and realized that there are few
records of signals, both from Brazil and
the United States as well, and with
similar functionalities.
Thank you so much for everyone's attention!
