New materials at the World Oral Literature Project - Namuyi and Nyarong Minyak

Dear all,

Three new collections of oral traditions from linguistic minorities of the
Tibetan Plateau are now available at the World Oral Literature Project.

This collection contains two movies (each approximately an hour long) of
cultural revitalization activities held in Dashui Village (Minsheng
Township, Xichang City, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, PR China).
In 2010, a story-telling competition and a folk-song singing competition
were held in Dashui Village to encourage use of the Namuyi language and
pride in local traditions. The story-telling competition contains seven
stories in the Namuyi language.

This collection contains two edited videos of New Year Celebrations in Bang
smad, a Mi nyag-speaking village in Bang smad Township, Nyag rong County,
Dkar mdzes Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. These
videos were filmed in 2010 and 2011 and contain footage of horse racing,
comedy performances, circle dancing performances, and song performances.

This collection contains a single video file depicting a summer picnic in
Bang smad Village, Bang smad Township, Nyag rong County, Dkar mdzes Tibetan
Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province China.
