The 44th International Conference on Sino-Tibetan Languages and<br>
Linguistics, First Circular and Call for Abstracts (March 18, 2011)<br>
<br>
We are pleased to announce that the 44th International Conference on<br>
Sino-Tibetan Languages & Linguistics will be held in Central Institute of<br>
Indian Languages, Mysore, India from 07th Oct to 09th Oct 2011.<br>
The conference is hosted by the Central Institute of Indian Languages.<br>
Updated information on the conference, as well as copies of all circulars<br>
and other announcements will be sent to all the participants.<br>
<br>
Intent to Participate<br>
If you are considering attending the conference, whether you plan to<br>
present a paper or not, please e-mail us at sinotibetan2k11@ yahoo.com<br>
and indicate your intent to participate by April 30, 2011. This will help<br>
us to determine how many participants to plan for.<br>
<br>
We intend to make a list of participants and paper titles available on the<br>
web site in advance of the conference. You may also add or remove<br>
your name from the conference email list by mailing to our mail-id.<br>
<br>
Call for Abstracts<br>
Papers are welcome on all aspects of linguistics in the Sino-Tibetan area.<br>
The deadline for abstracts is June 30, 2011.<br>
<br>
Abstract format: Abstracts shall be limited to one page. Abstracts<br>
should be in English, or bilingual including English. At the top of the<br>
abstract please include the paper title, your name, institution, and email.<br>
<br>
Abstract submission: If possible, please send abstracts as email<br>
attachments to <a href="sinotibetan2k11@yahoo.com">sinotibetan2k11@yahoo.com</a>. Pdf format is preferred.<br>
If pdf is not possible, Microsoft Word (.doc/docx) format is acceptable.<br>
Please embed the fonts in the word document. The file name should<br>
include both "icstll" and your last name, for example "icstll44_sastry.pdf"<br>
or "icstll44_sastry.doc/docx". If submission in electronic form is not<br>
possible, abstracts may instead be sent by regular mail to:<br>

Conference Language<br>
The language of conference presentations will be English. If you<br>
are unable to present in English, please make arrangements for<br>
English-language handouts and/or interpretation into English.<br>
<br>
Registration<br>
Information on registering for the conference will be included in<br>
the second circular, to be mailed out in May, 2011. We anticipate<br>
a registration fee of US $50 (US $20 for students) and a registration<br>
deadline of July 15, 2011. Both the cost and the deadline are<br>
subject to change. There will be a separate charge for the conference<br>
banquet and other meals. We regret that we will be unable to accept<br>
late registrations. Please plan accordingly.<br>

Lodging<br>
Accommodation will be arranged in the International Guest House<br>
and the Guest House attached to the Central Institute of Indian<br>
Languages. In addition, hotel accommodation will be secured if prior<br>
intimation is given to us.<br>
<br>
Transportation<br>
The nearest airport is Bengaluru International Airport, located<br>
180 kms away from Mysore. Travel time from the airport to the venue<br>
is about 4 hrs in normal traffic conditions. There is a domestic airport<br>
at Mysore but the connectivity is very limited.<br>
<br>
Visas<br>
All non-Indian citizens who are attending the Conference need a visa<br>
to enter India. Please contact the Indian Consulate nearest to you for<br>
visa procedures. When you indicate your intent to participate in<br>
ICSTLL-44, you will be issued an official letter inviting you to the<br>
conference, which you can submit with your visa application.<br>
<br>
Meals<br>
The conference banquet will be held on Saturday evening,<br>
Oct. 08, 2011. There will be a separate charge for attending the<br>
banquet. We also plan to provide dinners on other nights of the<br>
conference for a small fee. There will be a Conference lunch and<br>
light refreshments for the participants at all conference sessions,<br>
provided by the organisers. Breakfast will be available at your<br>
place of stay. Further details on meals will be included in the<br>
second or third circular.<br>
