Plus there was my 2001 article (<a href="http://www.randylapolla.info/Papers/LaPolla_2001_The_Role_of_Migration_and_Language_Contact_in_the_Development_of_the_Sino-Tibetan_Language_Family.pdf" class="">here</a>), which relied largely on historical sources.
