<p>Dear fellow Tibeto-Burmanists,</p>
<p>Thanks for all who responded to me personally. The publication
record on Tibeto-Burman riddles seems to indeed be very patchy.
For those who are interested: apart from the single publication on
Tibetan riddles by Robin & Gossot (a beautifully illustrated
work), I found some references to riddles in Matisoff's work on
Lahu, Hansson's work on Akha, Tournadre & Sangda Dorje's work
on Tibetan, King's work on Dhimal, Yliniemi's work on Denjongke,
Bender's work on Nuosu, and Ozerov's research on Anal Naga, but no
publications dealing specifically with riddles.<br>

(nicely) illustrated bilingual collection of riddles in
Tibetan and French, that my student Véronique Gossot and
myself published in late Nov 2019. We have a concluding
chapter at the end that provides info on riddles, based upon
enquiries with Tibetans and readings of a few sources (we
did not find that many, indeed). <br>

<p>I am wondering if anybody has published on riddles and
riddling in Tibeto-Burman languages? I am writing a paper
on Pumi riddles right now, but haven't been able to find
many publications for the Tibeto-Burman area. If you know
of any publications, I would be grateful to receive
references or copies of papers.</p>
