<p><span style="font-size:16.0pt">In Memorium Professor Pang-Hsin Ting </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Professor Pang-Hsin Ting, Founding President <i>
cum </i>Honorary President for Life of the Li Fang- Kuei Society for Chinese Linguistics, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023, with his wife and children at his side. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on February 12 in the Chapel of the Sunset
Funeral Home in El Cerrito, California, U.S.A. Cremation will take place on February 13, with burial in the Sunset Cemetery on February 14.

<p><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Professor Pang-Hsin Ting was a native of Rugao </span>
<span lang="ZH-TW" style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:DengXian">如皋 </span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">in Jiangsu Province, China, where he was born on October 15, 1937. During and after his outstanding graduate student years, he proudly acknowledged the
late Professor Fang-Kuei Li as his <i>magister primus </i>and life-long mentor. His distinguished academic career included invitations to serve as Chair and Director of the Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica, as Agassiz Chair Professor at
the University of California at Berkeley, and as Dean of Humanities and Social Science at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. A consummate scholar and also a superb stylist in both modern and literary Chinese prose and in classical poetry, his prominent
works include <i>Chinese Phonology of the Wei-Chin Period – Reconstruction of the Finals as Reflected in Poetry
