FIRST CIRCULAR AND CALL FOR PAPERS

Dear Colleague,

The Finno-Ugric Department of Linguistic Institute, Hungarian Academy of
Sciences has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in BUW-III to be
held in January, 10­12, 2002, Budapest. We modified the traditional autumn
date considering that the Finno-Ugric Department of University of Szeged is
organizing a conference commemorating Tibor Mikola at January 7­8, 2002, as
some of the foreign participants of BUW may be interested in the Szeged
conference as well.

The subject of BUW-III is the OBJECT and the problems connected to it. The
goal of the workshop is discussing the object from different (syntactic,
morphological and semantic) points of view by confronting the newest
results.

Similarly to the previous BUWs, we are planning to lay emphasis on the
workshop character of the sessions. These round-table discussions following
the presentations are intended to be longer and more detailed than the
ordinary conference questions and comments. In order to prepare them, we
would like to collect the full text or the summary of the papers well in
advance, and send them to the participants at least a fortnight before the
symposium.

The working language of the sessions is Hungarian.

The registration fee is 50 USD, which will cover the workshop supper and the
workshop book.

Deadlines:
Preregistration: March 31, 2001.
Second Circular / accommodation: May 15, 2001.
Deadline for abstracts / reservations: June 15, 2001.
Deadline for full texts or summaries: November 15, 2001.
Third Circular / preliminary program : December 15, 2001.
