Symposia: 1) Gender, 2) Finnic

Dear Uralists,

This is a reminder to all of you, about two symposia which will take place
in the next few months.

1) Gender in Finno-Ugristics, the first international symposium of its kind,
in Vienna, October 3-4, 2002. The programme is already fixed; everybody
interested is welcome to attend to the symposium. For more information see

2) Reconnecting Finnic, an international symposium consisting of lectures
and workshops, in Helsinki, November 15-16, 2002. The official registration
deadline was the end of June, but new registrations for the workshops are
still welcome: postgraduate and advanced undergraduate students who are
writing their theses on themes connected with the Finnic languages
(especially: language contacts and areal linguistics, typology, socio- and
ethnolinguistics) are invited to participate. (Please forward this
