BUW-4 WORKSHOP ON GRAMMATICALIZATION
FIRST CIRCULAR / Budapest 10th October, 2002
Dear Colleague,

The Finno-Ugric Department of Linguistic Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in
BUW-IV
to be held in
September 4–6, 2003.

The subject of BUW-IV is grammaticalization. The goal of the workshop is to discuss different cases of grammaticalization processes in the Uralic languages e.g. main verb > auxiliary; postposition > case suffix; demonstrative pronoun > definite article, 3rd person pronoun; lexical word > derivational suffix, pronoun etc.

Similarly to the previous BUWs, we are planning to lay emphasis on the workshop character of the sessions. Our round-table discussions following the presentations are traditionally informal as well as longer and more detailed than the usual conference questions and comments.

The working language of the sessions is Hungarian (English).

The registration fee is 80 EUR, which will cover the workshop supper and the workshop book.

The Second and the Third Circulars and further information will be available at:
http://www.nytud.hu/bum4
The registration forms, which can be found at the above address, too, should be sent by e﷓mail: fgroszt at nytud.hu.

Deadlines:

Preregistration: December 15, 2002.
Second Circular / information on accommodation: February 15, 2003.
Deadline for abstracts: May 15, 2003.
Third Circular / preliminary program: August 15, 2003.

With regards

Marianne Bakró-Nagy
on behalf of the organizing committee
