international seminar "Ethno-Social Processes in Siberia: the part played by

Proposed items to be discussed :



*          Theoretical problems concerning ethnos, culture and civilization

*          Intercultural mutual relations and Eurasian civilization

*          Peoples of Siberia and the North plus contemporary civilization

*          Part played by Russian people in the development of ethno-
social processes in Siberia and in the North

*          Position of Russian people in national regions of Siberia and
the North

*          Demographic processes with regard to peoples of Siberia and the
North. Problems with regard to                     depopulation and
descendants of mixed races, true worth of family and marriage

*          Migration and safety of peoples

*          Problems dealing with health, quality and standards of life of
the population

*          Work, employment, unemployment concerning peoples of Siberia
and the North

*          Ethnical aspects of general and professional education

*          Traditional nature use under conditions of social transformation

*          Problems of maintaining and developing national languages and
cultures. The role of Russian culture

             and language in inter-ethnical integration

*          Ethnical identity in the age of globalization

*          Changes in values of orientation of young people

*          Social problems in the development of indigenous peoples of the
North and minority groups

*          Traditional and newly developed religious trends in the life of
peoples of Siberia and the North. The

             problem of dealing with inter-denominational agreement.

*          Governmental, self-administrative development and international
ties of peoples of Siberia and the

             North

*          Methodology and organization of comparative ethno-social
investigations.

*          International research experience and solving problems of
aboriginal peoples

*          Miscellaneous current problems of development and mutual
cooperation of peoples and cultures.



The intention is to have sociologists, economists, lawyers, philosophers,
historians, demographers, social anthropologists, political workers,
workers in the field of culture and education, social administrative
bodies and administrators of public national associations participate in
the seminar.

There are plans to organize discussions based on lectures read, debates on
proposals on the subjects and organization of ethno-social investigations,
elaboration of recommendations by federal and local official bodies
concerning the solution  of the peoples in the region.

The Organization Committee hereby invites you to participate in the work
of this seminar and shall present a statement not later than September 10,
2004 containing information about the participants  - surname, first name,
middle name, theme of lecture, place of work, position, education, address
(home or work), telephone number at work (home), fax and e-mail.
Cocurently an edted text of an article must be sent to be published in the
booklet with the topics " Ethno-social processes in Siberia" (7th edition)
to be released on the subjects of the work carried out by the seminar.
Obligatory conditions when compiling article: 1) The heading must bear the
name of the presentation, surname, first name, author's  middle name,
place of residence; 2) the article shall not contain more than 12 pages;
3) text must be presented in WORD 6.0 or RTF with 1 ½ lines in between,
font - 14; 4) references - at the end.



Texts which have not been revised and texts not corresponding to the theme
of the seminar shall not be accepted for publication. The right to make
final  decisions as regards publication of articles in the booklet remains
with the editorial board and Organizational Committee of the international
seminar.

             The exact dates of the seminar shall be announced in the
second newsletter.
