Dear All,

The Finno-Ugric Department of the University of Szeged, Hungary, announces
the second biennial Tibor Mikola Prize (2007), to honour the memory of
Professor Tibor Mikola (1936-2000), long-time Head of the Finno-Ugric
Department in Szeged, outstanding Finno-Ugrist and Samoyedologist. The prize
will be awarded to a young Finno-Ugrist, on the basis of outstanding
documented achievements (thesis, conference paper, printed publication) in
her/his studies or research activities.

The prize can be applied to by students, PhD students or university
assistants in Finno-Ugric linguistics or neighbouring disciplines with
Finno-Ugric connections (e.g. history, folkloristics, archaeology, Altaic
studies, general linguistics). There are no restrictions on the age or
nationality of the applicants.

Attached to the application, there must be the documentation of the
outstanding work (paper, publication, thesis etc.), a recommendation of the
Department Head and another recommendation by an acknowledged expert in the
relevant field of study.

Application deadline: 15 December 2006 (address: SzTE, BTK, Nyelvészeti
Tanszékek Irodája, H-6722 Szeged, Egyetem u. 2. II. em. 43.)
The winner will be notified by 31 January 2007, and the prize will be
solemnly awarded on Tibor Mikola¹s birthday, 19 February 2007.
