Dear Colleagues,

Yuvan (Ivan Nikolaevich) Shestalov, the Mansi poet and long-time cultural activist, one of the most accomplished authors in the literature of the small Uralic peoples and perhaps the most famous representative of the Mansi people internationally, a writer whose works have been translated into numerous languages, professor of the Herzen University and the Yugra university, holder of numerous awards, passed away on November 5th, at the age of 75 years -- as reported on the homepage of the Yugra University: http://www.ugrasu.ru/news/belyiy-sterh--uletel-no-ostavil-nam-pesnyu-/ .

The White Crane has flown away, but his song will remain with us.
