taking place 18.-20. April 2012 in Freiburg/Germany.

== Call for papers ==

In keeping with the goals of the conference series, we invite abstracts for 20-minute papers or for posters on research topics in Nordic and General linguistics. We especially welcome papers relating to the conference topic of language contact in the Nordic area or concerning Nordic languages elsewhere, but also encourage submissions on issues such as 1) field linguistics, 2) areal typology, 3) grammaticalization, 4) pragmatics, 5) intercomprehension, and 6) innovative methodologies. Abstracts should be between 300 and 500 words in length and should fit on a single sheet of paper. References, examples, and diagrams can be placed on a second sheet. Abstracts are to be submitted via easy abstracts. Abstract submission opens on June 1st, 2011. The deadline is November 1st, 2011. Authors will be notified of the outcome of their abstract on December 15th, 2011.

The program of ICNGL11 includes the following five theme sessions:
* Experimental approaches to meaning and understanding across languages
* The left periphery in Scandinavian
* West Nordic prosody
* Swearing in the Nordic countries
* Information structuring and typology of question and answer pairs
