> The Department of Modern Languages and the Department of Finnish,  Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian Studies invite you to participate in the  international conference of Baltic linguistics, continuing the  conference cycle Baltic Days and White Nights started in St Petersburg  in June 2008. The main theme of the conference will be Contacts  between the Baltic and the Uralic (Finno-Ugrian) languages – both from  a synchronic and a diachronic perspective. Abstracts on other aspects  of Baltic linguistics will also be considered.

> Dates and venue
> The conference will take place in June 11 and 12 (Monday and Tuesday)  at the University of Helsinki (Metsätalo, Unioninkatu 40).

> Abstracts
> Please,  send your abstract (2500–4000 characters) to  santeri.junttila at helsinki.fi by 30 November 2011. Include your name,  affiliation (university or other institution) and e-mail address.  Abstracts are welcome in English and the Baltic languages. All  abstracts will be reviewed by an international committee. We will  notify you about the acceptance of your paper by 1 February 2012.

> Presentations
> Participants will be given 20 minutes for their presentations,  followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.  The choice of  language should be made by the participant: we kindly ask you to aim  to an optimal comprehension of your presentation.
> 
> Fee
> The participation fee is 30 € that will cover 3 coffee breaks and the  conference dinner, as well as the necessary conference materials. The  lunches are not included in the fee, but there are several relatively  modest price lunch restaurants near to Metsätalo.
> 
> Conference website
> We are going to set up a conference website with further, continuously  updated information on important organizational matters by the end of  this year.
