i am a university student from Tallinn and i have just two small remarks on the latest discussion:<BR>

<BR>

1) popularizing or clarifying scientific issues in the public, or just explaining what is science, should be part of every scientist's job. this doesn't only inolve the media, but also for example, giving guest lectures in usual high schools once a month telling the students about what the "mystical or freaky" scientists do. because one of the reasons why many people are so prone to believe pseudo-scientific publishings and theories (including the "Hun-idea" discussed here) is the physical and mental distance between scientists and the little-educated people. it's just important to communicate. <BR>

2) i quote a mailing from before: "But let not spoil your ambition<BR>

and your love for the issue -- and that is dealing with<BR>

Finno-Ugric Studies and spreading knowledge about the<BR>

Finno-Ugric cultures among the Indo-European world." <BR>

<BR>

- i don't see a reason why Finno-Ugric Studies should  only do the work of spreading knowldege about the F-U cultures in the Indo-European world and not the whole world? especially with, for example, the East-Asian scholars rising to ever new levels. <BR>
