</SPAN><FONT SIZE="4"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:14.0px'>research at the forthcoming conference of the Finno-Ugric Studies Association of </SPAN></FONT><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12.0px'>Canada! Next year’s biannual FUSAC conference will convene in Montreal at Concordia University, May 2010. <BR>
</SPAN><FONT SIZE="4"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:14.0px'> <BR>
Mark down these dates! We are scheduled for three days: Saturday, May 29; Sunday, May 30: and Monday, May 31. We will definitely be using the Saturday and Sunday dates. Should there be an overflow of participants, of which at this time I am not certain, we will use also the third day, Monday, May 31. I will know more about our participants’ roster towards the end of the year, and inform you then whether we will need the Monday date or not. By having our first actual meeting day on a Saturday, this should enable members to travel to </SPAN></FONT><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12.0px'>Montreal on Friday, thereby locking in a weekend (and cheaper) rate.<BR>

</SPAN></FONT><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12.0px'>The Finno-Ugric Studies Association of Canada is dedicated to expanding knowledge of the Uralic peoples and Uralia. Accordingly, any topic devoted entirely or partially to them is welcome. Topics include <FONT COLOR="#111111">anthropology, archaeology, economics, ethnic studies, folklore, history, linguistics, literature, migration, music, political science, sociology, and other disciplines. The varieties of specializations within each of these disciplines are, of course, legion. Comparative approaches involving other peoples and places are most welcome. <BR>
</FONT></SPAN><FONT SIZE="4"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:14.0px'> <BR>
FUSAC is a member of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences; the Canadian Federation holds its Congresses once a year. FUSAC attends its Congresses once every other year.<BR>

Therefore, we are meeting under the Canadian Federation’s auspices. Along with us, 74 other Canadian scholarly organizations will be meeting in the 8-day period for the 2010 Congress, from Friday, May 28 through Friday, June 4. The more closely allied organizations meeting during this time are: the Hungarian Studies Association of Canada (May 29-May 30), Association for the Advancement of Scandinavian Studies (May 28-31), Canadian Association of Slavists (May 28-31), Canadian Linguistic Association (May 29-31), Canadian Anthropology Society (June 1-June 3), Folklore Studies Association of Canada (May 28-May 30), Canadian Association for the Study of Names (May 29-31), Canadian Association of Applied Linguistics (June 1-June 3), Canadian Historical Association (May 30-June 1), Canadian Political Science Association (June 1-June 3), Canadian Comparative Literature Association (May 28-May 30), Canadian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (May 28-May 30), Canadian Studies (May 29-May 30). <BR>
Thus, we have a real intellectual tour de force awaiting us all. I would also like to point out that the Canadian Federation Congresses have </SPAN></FONT><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12.0px'>marvelous book exhibits that feature a great number of academic publishers. <BR>

The computer supplied will be a Windows based system with access to the Internet and can load files in MS-Office format (versions 2003 and 2007) and PDF file format. <BR>

You have to inform me whether you might need an overhead transparency projector, a </SPAN></FONT><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12.0px'>DVD player, a 35 mm. slide projector, a portable CD player, or a flip chart with paper and pen. <BR>

Please indicate what special needs you may wish to have provided for: special food-catering needs, handicap-assistance (e.g., wheelchair accessibility, level-entry situations, special pillows, assistive-listening issues ). Our Secretary, Liisa Duncan, peerlessly represented our association during a late September Canadian Federation 2010 conference meeting at Concordia University, located very close to the heart of Montreal. Inter alia, Liisa reported that Concordia “…is a small campus and so should be easy to navigate. Most of the buildings seemed quite nice and modern.” <BR>
