Paula Palmeos, Docent of the University of Tartu, made her career in linguistics mainly in the area of Karelian (she published a monograph on the Karelian dialect of the Valdai enclave), Veps and the historical lexicology of Estonian, but generations of students at the University of Tartu in the post-War decades learnt to know and love her as their teacher of Finnish or Hungarian.
