After Steinitz’s death, he supervised the editing and publication of the remaining, posthumous parts of Steinitz's great Khanty dictionary (DEWOS) and, alongside his research at the Academy of Sciences, taught generations of university students from the 1960s until his retirement in 1996. Now, one of the last great representatives of the German Ob-Ugristic research tradition and community is gone.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">With condolences to all his colleagues and friends, his academic “children” and “grandchildren”,</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">jl</div><div class=""> <br class=""><div class="">
