Hindi, the following positions are attached to South East Asia: 1
professorship in Sanskrit (vacant), one professorship in Urdu and one
associate professorship in South Asian area studies.

The appointee will be required to teach, supervise and participate in
exams at all levels, in addition to administrative duties according
to existing rules, and in cooperation with the Department's leader
and board. Within his/her normal working duties and academic
competence, the appointee may also be obliged to undertake duties
outside the Department.

The minimum requirement for appointment is a completed doctoral
degree or equivalent academic qualifications in Hindi ( literature
and/or language). A high level of proficiency in Hindi is required.
Academic qualifications or research experience in another Indian
language, preferably a Northwestern Indian language will be an
advantage. The candidate's work must demonstrate knowledge of
conditions in present day India.

He/she will be responsible for the teaching of Hindi at all levels,
and must be prepared to co-operate with the Urdu teacher in the
Hindi-Urdu elementary course.

The appointee will cooperate closely with the other academic staff

pursuant to the Civil Service Act.

In accordance with current rules, the main emphasis will be on the
applicant's publications (a maximum of 10). The applicant must state
which publication or part of these he/she wishes to be given special
consideration. Account will also be taken of research management and
