Dear Professor Aklujkar,

what you write might mean that
the "(UNDATED)" second book which sits on my shelf
is in fact dated 1974
and that this is how one should interpret the mention "First Indian
Edition 1974"
(because this seems indeed to have been distributed by "Munshiram
Manoharlal",
according to the book cover).

This somehow confirms that Bishop Caldwell
is (SADLY) nowadays more the property
of ideologues than of historians.

The history of the development and receptions
of Caldwell's ideas remains to be written.

This might be an interesting (although possibly dangerous) Ph.D. topic
for a bold student
who will not be afraid to walk on the Marina (in Chennai/Madras)
[near Caldwell's statue]
and to be carried away by the Dravidian wind ;-)

Cheers

-- Jean-Luc
