<div>I am pleased to let you know that Yamuna Kachru, Emeritus
Professor in Linguistics, will be awarded the Presidential Award from
the President of India. This is a highly pretigious award which speaks
to Prof. Yamuna Kachru's distinguished research record and stellar
reputation as one of the premiere experts on the Hindi language and
Linguistics. The award will be presented to Prof. Kachru by India's
president Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam at a ceremony at the Presidential
Palace in New Delhi on September 14, 2006, at 5 PM. Prof. Kachru is
one of four recipients of this distinguished award this year. Please
