Grade 9; Full Time, open-ended

Salary (inclusive of London allowance): £55,163 - £59,981 per annum

Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. The successful candidate is required to make a major contribution to the range of Master's programmes in TESOL and Applied Linguistics, especially to the Pre-Service TESOL, and to research and administration in the Centre for Applied Linguistics, including programme management, supervising PhDs, and carrying out first-class research activities.

Evidence of expertise in language teaching and teacher education for TESOL professionals and significant teaching and research experience in one or more specialist areas of TESOL/ Applied Linguistics/SLA (e.g. TESOL for young learners, content and language integrated learning, task-based learning, classroom discourse, bilingualism and multilingualism, sociolinguistics and linguistic ethnography, technology-enhanced learning and teaching, language assessment, language-in-education policy, etc.) is essential, as is knowledge of the international context for ELT and second language learning, and an understanding of different methodologies used in the field of TESOL and Applied Linguistic.

The postholder should have a PhD in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a relevant subject, significant expertise in training TESOL professionals and teaching and research experience in one or more specialist areas of TESOL/ Applied Linguistics/SLA, and a track record in securing research funding, managing research projects and producing research publications of international significance as well as supervising PhD students to successful completion.
