[ACLA-CAAL] Opportunity at Capilano University

The department of Linguistics at Capilano University invites applications for 1 non-regular instructor of linguistics. This is a unionized position and the successful candidate will teach one section LING 100 <https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-100---introduction-to-general-linguistics--language-structure/> (Introduction to General Linguistics: Language Structure) from May-June, 2025. The successful candidate may be offered additional sections in future terms pending scheduling needs. Additional sections may include: LING 101 <https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-101---introduction-to-general-linguistics--language-use/> (Introduction to General Linguistics: Language Use), LING 102<https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-102---introduction-to-practical-phonetics/> (Introduction to Practical Phonetics), LING 202<https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-202---explorations-in-english-etymology/> (Introduction to English Etymology), LING 206<https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-206---first-nations-languages-of-british-columbia/> (First Nations Languages of BC) or LING 208<https://www.capilanou.ca/programs--courses/courses/ling-208---indigenous-languages-and-their-speakers/> (Indigenous Languages of the World and their Speakers). Periodically there is an opportunity to teach LING100 and LING102 in the Sechelt or Lil’wat Language and Culture Certificates. These courses will be adapted and focus on the particular First Nations language (either Sechelt or Lil’wat). The successful candidate may also provide program direction and assist in the development of First Nations diplomas.
