Dennis, and all others who are not aware of my background, I was a
geography major in college and am an avid proponent of toponyms (in
their place).  I do not think that we are so short of other possible
terms (non-toponymic) that we need resort to onomastomania.  Perhaps
"toponymy of the year" is better left to our sister organization--The
American Names Society.  And for what it's worth, I feel no shame for
this position.
