Vol. XXXIII, Oct. 1958, p 240:

We record with sadness the death of Louise Pound on June 28, 1958. She
was closely connected with _American Speech_ from the beginning, having
been a founder of the journal in 1925, co-editor until 1932, and editor
of the Miscellany section for many years thereafter. At the time of
her death she was only two days short of her eighty-sixth birthday, but
her life had been an active one right up until its final years. In
1955 her long career as scholar-teacher was climaxed by her election as
the first woman president of the Modern Language Association.
