debris synchronicity

As I sit here reading the discussion of "debris" (always a mass noun for me,
BTW, like "stuff", "junk", "rubble", "wreckage", and "chazzerei") and listening
to the CD _Dr. Jane's Remains_, I hear the lines

     He* was the P.T. Barnum of paleontology
     And he wanted size and splendor, not a fragmentary pile of debris.
