Joe Booker stew?

Does anyone have information on the term _Joe Booker stew_?  I have
checked DARE, DAE, DA, OED, Farmer & Henley, Cent. Dict., W3, RU2, Am.
Dialect Dict., Dict. of Can., Dict. of PEI, DJE, DBE, DNfE.  I have run
_Joe Booker stew_ and _Booker stew_ on the WWW to no avail.

The only reference I have to it at this juncture is in a book about
colonial American cooking in New England.

Any leads would be much appreciated.
