In the SC Piedmont area, I heard of the "Rock Hill" called the "Rocky as Hell" allegedly because of its suspension on rural SC roads during the Depression; the "Knute Rocke" was called the "Model Car" allegedly because of balsa wood used in its construction to soften the impact of collisions.
