Church key

I've always known and still use this term (even though there is no longer
much use for its referent...). I seem to recall reading somewhere (in the
"Playboy Advisor" - Barry?) that it derived from the supposed similarity
of its shape and that of large ornate medieval keys (think, perhaps, of
the type of bottle-opener which is suited _only_ for bottles, made of a
metal "wire" bent into a bottle-opening shape at one end, and into an open
handle at the other).
