Where I grew up (north of Boston), as I recollect, Worcester was pronounced "WOOS-tuh" or (especially among teenage girls) "WIS- tuh," and Gloucester "GLOSS-tuh." Some people pronounce the final "r" in both words as well. Joanne Despres Merriam-Webster
