"product" as non-manufactured--related business jargon

It is Sunday morning, and I have just heard on the radio:

"We at the Community Church seek to grow our souls..."

I have absolutely no idea what that means--and I'd be very surprised if
the minister who said it has either--but I guess he figures it sounds
modern and catchy.  Somehow business jargon and religiosity is not a mix
that works very well for me.

(But then he redeemed himself by reading a poem by Langston Hughes.  So
good!)
