For a discussion of what precipitated one of our most recent
dialogues----

An article in the Detroit Free Press reports that a circuit judge
Thursday upheld the constitutionality of an 1897 state law prohibiting
cursing in front of women and children. According to the article, Arenac
County Judge Ronald Bergeron affirmed a jury's conviction of Timothy
Boomer of Roseville for violating the law in August 1998 when he fell
from his canoe into the Rifle River.
