There is an occult tradition that after his crucifixion Jesus went to Rome
and thence to Provence where his seed ultimately fathered [how's that for
a metaphor?] the French royal family. There have been tv shows on cable
touting this tale; the Cathars [Albigensians] and Knights Templar are
usually involved.  Umberto Eco's novel Foucault's Pendulum has a great
deal of fun with it: a good read, unless you'r a cabalist!
