call for papers: MLA Present-Day English

The MLA Present-Day English Discussion Group is seeking papers for its
session at the 2000 MLA Conference, Dec. 27-30, in Washington, DC. Papers
and presentations in any area related to the English language, past and
present, are encouraged, with special attention to language policy and
linguistic rights; literacy and technology; standards and varieties of
English.

Presenters must be MLA members by April 1. Send all submissions and requests
for further information to the session organizer, Dennis Baron:
