     From the menu of the Hotel Beau-Rivage, Lucerne, Switzerland, 12 May
1905.

Truth in Advertising.
     "Do you speak French?"
     "No."
     "Do you speak English?"
     "No."
     "But on your window it says 'French and English spoken here.'  Who
speaks it?"
     "The Customers!"

The Correct Answer.
     Waggish Diner (with menu)--"Chicken croquettes, eh?  I say, waiter, what
part of a chicken is the croquette?"
     Waiter--"The part that is left over from the day before, sir."
