WORD DETECTIVE

   This week's NEW YORK PRESS (www.nypress.com), July 5-11, 2000, has a
"First Person" story by Evan Morris titled "Green Hell."  The Word Detective
had left New York City in 1998 for his own Green Acres.  It ends:

    And please let me know if you hear of any good sublets.

    The Grant Barrett pad should be freed up by now.

     From the WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3 July 2000, pg. B1, col. 2:

     Most corporate detectives avoid terms like spying and espionage,
preferring the more dignified label "competitive intelligence."

     The story also uses "corporate intelligence."  Blame the CIA.
Spying=intelligence?
