Blood diamonds...

In today's Wall Street Journal, front-page 'center', is an article
entitled:  You Can Learn a Lot About a Diamond If You Smash It Up.
Author is Robert Block.

The article discusses attempts to determine the geographical origin of
diamonds.  The focus is with identifying 'blood diamonds' or 'conflict
diamonds', "gems that come from African war zones."  If the illicit
trade in these diamonds cannot be controlled, a consumer boycott "could
turn the king of gems into a fashion pariah."
