   I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE (the musical) opened it 1962.  At least I got that right!!
   I just checked "Second Hand Rose" and yes, I think it was in 1966's FUNNY GIRL.  It was Jake the _Plumber_, not Jake the Butcher.  The lyrics provided on usenet didn't add the "new/nu," so I don't know which one was meant.  If Fanny Brice had said "nu," that might be an antedate for that word.  Come to think of it, when I get back I should check the Fanny Brice file in the NYPL.  Maybe she used "tchoschke"?
   WHOLESALE (1962) has a song titled "A funny thing happened," which should be recorded for that phrase.
   On to Braga tomorrow, then Coimbra on Sunday (where I'm studying the ROTAS/SATOR square found there).
